The CSIR–National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST) is organizing a Skill Development Programme on NGS-Based Metagenome Sequencing: Data Analysis & Biological Interpretation under the CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative. The programme provides comprehensive theoretical and hands-on training in next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis, metagenomics, microbiome analysis, and biological interpretation using industry-relevant tools and workflows.

Hands-on Practical Sessions
Participants will receive practical training in:
- Stool DNA extraction and quality assessment
- DNA quantification
- Sample preparation for 16S rRNA sequencing
- Understanding sequencing output files (FASTQ, OTU/ASV, Taxonomy)
- Microbiome data import and preprocessing in RStudio
- Taxonomic profiling and abundance analysis
- Alpha and beta diversity analysis
- Microbiome visualization (PCoA, NMDS, Heatmaps, Bar plots)
- Statistical analysis and biomarker identification
- Biological interpretation and report generation

Applicants with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biological Sciences are eligible.
