About
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 will be organized by Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Ministry of Education, Government of India.
GATE is a prestigious national-level examination that evaluates candidates’ understanding of undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities. GATE scores are widely accepted for:
- Admission to Master’s, Direct Doctoral, and PhD programmes
- Financial assistance in eligible postgraduate programmes
- Recruitment by several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs)
- Opportunities in higher education and research institutions across India.
Key Updates for GATE 2027
- Introduction of a new Robotics and Automation (RA) paper.
- Revised syllabus for GATE test papers after five years.
- Changes to BT syllabus, Two-Paper Combinations, Textile Engineering & Fibre Science (TF) paper, and XE, XH, XL sectional paper codes.
- A total of 30 test papers will be conducted.
- Candidates may appear in one or up to two papers, subject to the permitted combinations.
- GATE scores will remain valid for three years from the date of result declaration.

Candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria specified in the official GATE 2027 Information Brochure may apply. The examination is open to eligible students and graduates from relevant disciplines in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities.
