The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India has invited applications for the Biotechnology Career Advancement and Re-Orientation (BioCARe) Programme 2026–27 for Women Researchers.
The programme aims to enhance the participation of women researchers in biotechnology by supporting independent research through a fellowship and research grant. The fellowship is co-terminus with the approved project, and the project duration can be up to three years.
Eligibility
Category I
- Indian women researchers (up to 55 years of age) residing in India.
- Must be unemployed as on the application closing date.
- Must have completed Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, allied areas, interdisciplinary sciences, or MD/MDS/M.V.Sc.
Category II
- Indian women researchers (up to 55 years of age) residing in India.
- Must be unemployed as on the application closing date.
- Must have completed M.Tech. in Biotechnology or allied areas, M.Pharma, or an equivalent degree.
Additional Conditions
- Candidates registered/enrolled for higher studies (Ph.D. or higher) or already receiving any fellowship are not eligible.
- The research support is available only to women researchers who are unemployed/not in a regular position and have not previously received any extramural research grant from any Government Funding Agency as Principal Investigator.
