Global biotechnology company Amgen has announced plans to establish a new Science & Innovation Center in Genome Valley, Hyderabad, with operations expected to begin in 2027. The new facility will become part of Amgen’s global Research & Development (R&D) network, further strengthening the company’s scientific research capabilities.
The Hyderabad center will focus on key research areas including:
- Discovery chemistry
- Drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK)
- Precision medicine
- Data science and digital technologies
- Artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled drug discovery
The facility is designed to integrate laboratory-based research with advanced computational tools and AI, enabling faster and more efficient development of innovative medicines.
This expansion complements Amgen’s existing technology and innovation presence in Hyderabad as well as recent R&D investments in the United States, including Thousand Oaks and South San Francisco. By leveraging Hyderabad’s strong biotechnology ecosystem and skilled STEM workforce, Amgen aims to accelerate scientific innovation and strengthen its global research network.
Industry experts view this investment as another milestone in positioning Genome Valley as one of the world’s leading biotechnology and life sciences hubs.
