The Mzoughi Laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York City, is inviting applications for Postdoctoral Fellow and Assistant Scientist positions. The laboratory is supported by an NIH-funded research program focused on understanding cancer cell states, tumor evolution, and therapeutic resistance.
The research aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms that regulate cancer cell behavior by studying:
- Functional heterogeneity within tumors.
- Phenotypic plasticity during tumor evolution and therapy response.
- Cellular competence in tumor initiation, adaptation, and drug resistance.
The laboratory combines advanced experimental and computational approaches, including:
- Genetic barcoding-based lineage tracing.
- Functional genomics.
- Organoid and mouse models.
- CRISPR perturbations.
- Single-cell multiomics.
Current research areas include:
- Cellular competence and tumor evolution.
- Phenotypic plasticity, memory, and adaptation.
- Developmental programs and cancer cell states.
Eligibility
Required
- Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Epigenetics, Stem Cell Biology, or a related field.
- Strong publication record or evidence of research productivity.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with molecular biology and mammalian cell culture.
Preferred
Experience in one or more of the following:
- Organoids or mouse models.
- Genetic barcoding, clonal tracking, and lineage tracing.
- Single-cell genomics and multiomics.
- ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, CUT&Tag, or CUT&RUN.
- CRISPR technologies.
