Applications are invited from highly motivated students for admission to the Ph.D. programs of IISER Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM) in the Schools of:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Data Sciences
- Earth, Environmental and Sustainability Sciences (EESS)
Also in:
- Centre for High-Performance Computing (CHPC)
Session starts from August 2026 (Varsha 2026 semester)
Candidates must apply through the online portal only

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Academic Qualification:
- Minimum 6.5 CGPA (10-point scale) or First Class in Master’s degree in relevant discipline
- For SC/ST/PwD: minimum 50% marks or 5.5 CGPA
- BE/BTech allowed for some specific research areas

Entrance Qualification (Mandatory):
Candidate must qualify at least one:- CSIR-JRF
- UGC-JRF (Category I / II / III)
- GATE
- Other national-level exams (as specified)
(Valid as on 01 August 2026)
- Exemption:
- BS-MS / MSc / Integrated MSc students from IISERs / IITs / IISc with CGPA ≥ 8.0 are exempted from national test
- JRF Candidates:
- JRFs at IISER TVM under extramural projects with valid national qualification are also eligible
