Postdoc & PhD Research Opportunities in Genome Maintenance at the University of Zurich, Switzerland

UZH / sciverse.in / 02 Oct 2026 11:52 AM

About

New Postdoctoral and PhD research opportunities are coming up in the research group of Prof. Matthias Altmeyer at the University of Zurich (UZH), Switzerland.

The research group investigates genome integrity maintenance, with upcoming projects focusing on the crosstalk between genotoxic stress-responsive protein modifications, particularly poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation (PARylation) and ubiquitylation. The projects will examine their roles in genome maintenance as well as the causes and consequences of heritable DNA lesions across cell generations

The Altmeyer Lab’s broader research interests include genome instability in cancer and aging, chromatin modifications in response to DNA damage, and alterations in cellular DNA-repair networks.

Eligibility

For PhD candidates:

  • PhD students will be recruited through the Life Science Zurich Graduate School (LSZGS).
  • Applicants should meet the relevant eligibility requirements of the applicable LSZGS doctoral programme.
  • The next application closing date mentioned for the opportunity is November 1, 2026

For Postdoctoral candidates:
Candidates with backgrounds or experience in areas such as:

  • Proteomics
  • Single-cell genomics
  • Microscopy image analysis
  • Mechanisms of genome maintenance
  • Basic Python and R

are encouraged to contact the research group.
