I. Summer Research Programme
This programme is conducted every year from May to July for a duration of 8 weeks. Students can apply through the following two options:
(a) TIFR Hyderabad Summer Research Programme
Students can directly apply to the Summer Research Programme offered by TIFR Hyderabad.
(b) KVPY / Science Academies
Some faculty members at TIFR Hyderabad are associated with various Science Academies. Students may apply through the Summer Research Fellowship Programme (SFRP) run by these academies. Selected students may be allotted to TIFR Hyderabad faculty members, subject to the availability of positions.
Please note that applications under this category must be made only through the Science Academies, not directly to TIFR.
Eligibility
For (a) TIFR Hyderabad Programme:

Students in the final year of a 3-year B.Sc. programme, or in the pre-final or final year of M.Sc., Integrated M.Sc., 4-year B.Sc., B.Tech., or B.E. programmes are eligible.
Ph.D. students are not eligible for this programme. -
Students who have already participated in this programme in previous years are not eligible to apply again.
For (b) KVPY / Science Academies:
Eligibility will be as per the rules and guidelines of KVPY or the respective Science Academies.

Selected candidates will be informed by email by mid-March 2026.

Stipend and Accommodation

For (a):
Selected students will receive a monthly stipend of ₹9,000, along with travel reimbursement as per TIFR rules. Free shared accommodation will be provided by the institute. -
For (b):
Stipend and accommodation will be provided as per KVPY / Science Academies rules.
II. Semester / Long-term Visiting Students Research Programme
Some TIFR Hyderabad faculty members are associated with institutions that allow students to earn research credits outside their home universities. Students from such institutions may apply directly to the respective faculty members through their own institutions.
TIFR Hyderabad also accepts visiting students throughout the year. Students who wish to carry out their final-year projects for Master’s or professional degree programmes are eligible to apply. Applications should be sent directly to faculty members based on matching research interests.
The duration of the visit depends on the project requirements.
Accommodation may be provided subject to availability.
